The unfolding drama began when federal immigration authorities attempted to apprehend Conejo in Minneapolis. He fled, leaving his son, Liam, who had just arrived home from preschool, momentarily unattended. The scene quickly escalated as officers remained with the young boy while pursuing his father.
Accusations of wrongdoing immediately surfaced, with some claiming Liam was essentially “kidnapped” and used to lure his father into custody.
