Toronto police are urgently seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect following a brutal assault at Wellesley subway station. The incident unfolded Monday evening around 7 p.m., escalating from a dispute on a northbound train to a violent attack on the platform.
Investigators report the victim and suspect engaged in a physical altercation while traveling on the subway. As the train doors opened at Wellesley station, both individuals exited onto the platform where the assault continued with repeated kicks from the suspect. The victim suffered life-threatening injuries as a result.
The suspect is described as a male, approximately six feet tall, wearing a distinctive black horizontal puffer jacket with the hood drawn up. Police are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident or captured it on video to come forward with information.
Meanwhile, in Hamilton, a shooting from May 9th has led to significant drug seizures and multiple charges. A coordinated search of a residence in Ancaster uncovered a substantial quantity of illicit substances, linking the investigation to both the shooting and an ongoing drug operation.
Detectives seized approximately 6.5 kilograms of cocaine, alongside 80 grams of fentanyl and 280 grams of crystal methamphetamine. The search also yielded 9mm ammunition, cellular phones, and precise digital scales used for drug trafficking.
Mahamud Ibrahim, 45, of Hamilton, now faces a total of 18 charges, including 14 firearm-related offences, three drug-related charges, and charges related to proceeds of crime and aggravated assault. Marcela Manriquez, 39, also of Hamilton, has been charged with three drug-related offences and one count of possessing proceeds of crime.
The investigation into the shooting remains active as authorities continue to gather evidence and pursue further leads. Investigators are asking anyone with information to contact the Hamilton Police Service Shooting Response Team.
On Hamilton’s East Mountain, a terrifying incident involving armed youths has resulted in charges. Last Wednesday evening, police responded to a residence on East 14th Street to find a 15-year-old male suffering from the effects of bear spray.
The victim had arranged a meeting with a friend via rideshare and was immediately confronted by a group wielding knives and bear spray upon exiting the vehicle. He was sprayed and fled, pursued by the group, eventually seeking refuge in a resident’s car while the owner was clearing snow.
The suspects forced their way into the vehicle and continued the assault, spraying the victim inside. When the vehicle owner bravely intervened, he was threatened at knifepoint while his wife and infant were nearby, managing to stand his ground.
Two male youths have been arrested and charged with multiple offences, including uttering threats, administering a noxious substance, and assault with a weapon. The victim was transported to hospital by ambulance following the ordeal.
