A chilling statement has emerged from a candidate vying for the position of Ohio Attorney General. Elliot Forhan, the Democratic nominee, publicly declared his intent to “kill Donald Trump,” a declaration that has ignited a firestorm of controversy and condemnation.
However, Forhan immediately qualified his statement, offering a disturbing clarification. He explained that his intention wasn’t literal, but rather a commitment to pursue a conviction through the legal system – a trial, evidence, due process, and ultimately, a sentence of capital punishment if found guilty.
The outrage wasn’t contained to the initial statement. Disturbing social media posts surfaced revealing Forhan also appeared to celebrate the assassination of Charlie Kirk, further fueling concerns about his judgment and temperament.
The Ohio Republican Party responded swiftly and forcefully, labeling Forhan’s rhetoric as “outrageous and extreme.” Chairman Alex Triantafilou directly linked such language to the attempted assassination of a former president and the tragic death of Kirk, arguing it represents a dangerous escalation of political discourse.
Triantafilou asserted that this extremism is a recurring issue for Ohio Democrats, consistently pushing them further from the state’s political center. He positioned other Democratic candidates, including Amy Acton and Sherrod Brown, as equally out of touch and warned voters against being misled.
Keith Faber, also a candidate for Ohio Attorney General, directly challenged Amy Acton to publicly denounce Forhan’s comments. He demanded she “turn down the rhetoric” and distance herself from the inflammatory statement, emphasizing the gravity of Forhan’s words and his prior online activity.
