DEPORTATION HALTED: Judge SAVES Family From ICE!

DEPORTATION HALTED: Judge SAVES Family From ICE!

A five-year-old boy and his father faced imminent deportation until a federal judge intervened Tuesday, issuing a temporary block against Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). The case of Liam Conejo Ramos and Adrian Alexander Conejo Ramos ignited a firestorm of protest, drawing sharp criticism from groups opposing ICE’s actions.

The drama unfolded earlier this month when ICE agents took both father and son into custody. Details surrounding the arrest are fiercely contested, but the judge’s order prevents either from being deported or moved outside the Western District of Texas while the case is reviewed.

ICE maintains that Adrian Conejo Ramos is an Ecuadorian national who entered the country illegally and actively attempted to evade arrest on January 20th. Officials allege he fled as agents approached, leaving his young son alone in a vehicle during frigid winter conditions.

However, the narrative shifts when considering accounts from those close to the family. A local pastor, Sergio Amezcua, reported speaking with Liam’s mother, who claimed neighbors warned her to remain inside when ICE arrived with her son.

Department of Homeland Security (DHS) officials vehemently deny this claim, asserting they made it clear they had no intention of detaining the mother. Assistant DHS Secretary Tricia McLaughlin stated officers explicitly assured her she would not be taken into custody.

According to DHS, the mother refused to accept custody of Liam, and the father requested his son remain with him. Officials emphasize that ICE’s target was solely Adrian Conejo Ramos, who they say was released into the U.S. after illegally entering in December 2024.

DHS officials point to the father’s release by the current administration, framing the arrest as a consequence of policies allowing entry to individuals with pending asylum claims. The family’s attorney confirms Adrian Conejo Ramos had a pending asylum application, providing a legal basis for remaining in the country.

The core dispute centers on the circumstances of the arrest and whether the father intentionally abandoned his son. ICE insists he did, while advocates for the family paint a picture of a desperate situation fueled by fear and miscommunication.

The judge’s order provides a temporary reprieve, halting the deportation process and allowing time for a more thorough examination of the facts. The future of Liam and his father remains uncertain, but the case has already sparked a national debate about immigration enforcement and the treatment of families.
