A shadow of doubt has fallen over the 2020 Presidential Election in Georgia, culminating in a recent FBI search of the Fulton County Election Hub and Operations Center. The action wasn’t a spontaneous decision, but the result of a detailed report outlining potential legal violations during the election’s conduct – a report now believed to be the foundation for the warrant.
The core of the investigation centers on a critical software update. Just weeks before the election, officials directed counties to install a completely new, untested version of ballot marking device software, bypassing standard certification procedures. This wasn’t a minor patch, but a wholesale replacement, raising serious questions about the integrity of the voting process.
The report details a cascade of alleged irregularities. Logic and accuracy testing, legally mandated to ensure fair elections, appears to have been skipped. Over a million extra absentee ballots were ordered, and crucially, signature verification – a vital safeguard against fraud – was reportedly absent in both the primary and general elections.
Disturbing accounts of physical tampering with ballots and voting machines have surfaced. Memory cards were swapped during live voting, security seals were broken, and ballots were allegedly processed on unauthorized “surrogate machines,” potentially introducing manipulated results. The chain of custody for thousands of ballots remains unaccounted for.
The issues extend beyond the voting process itself. Election records from the initial count were not properly preserved, and access to the county’s election systems and data was allegedly compromised. A complete reconciliation of ballots, as required by Georgia law, was not performed, and ballot paper authentication was disabled statewide.
Further scrutiny reveals discrepancies in voter registration numbers, exceeding the eligible population in both the state and Fulton County. Hundreds of test ballots were reportedly included in the official count, and a significant number of ballots appear to have been counted multiple times during the recount process. Vital image records from the recount are missing.
The report also alleges serious security vulnerabilities, including the unprotected transmission of voting system encryption keys. Furthermore, Fulton County’s official records show a startling anomaly: over 22,000 more ballots cast than voters officially recorded as having voted. Thousands of ballots have vanished between the original count and the recount, and vice versa.
These allegations, if substantiated, paint a troubling picture of an election marred by systemic failures and potential criminal activity. While the outcome of the Presidential election may not have hinged on Georgia’s results, the state’s Senate run-off election – which ultimately handed control of the Senate to the opposing party – adds another layer of significance to these claims.
The FBI’s actions signal a renewed focus on these long-simmering concerns. The implications of this investigation extend far beyond Georgia, raising fundamental questions about the security and integrity of elections nationwide and the public’s trust in the democratic process.
