COP DOWN! Georgia Hotel Massacre – Suspect Unleashed!

A routine credit card fraud investigation at a Georgia hotel erupted into a tragic confrontation Sunday morning, leaving one young police officer dead and another critically wounded. The incident unfolded near Stone Mountain, a quiet community just northeast of Atlanta, shattering the peace and plunging a police department into mourning.

The initial call came from South Carolina, reporting unauthorized charges made at a Holiday Inn Express. Gwinnett County officers responded, speaking with hotel staff who identified 35-year-old Kevin Andrews of Decatur as the registered guest. A check revealed Andrews was already wanted on an outstanding warrant in neighboring DeKalb County.

Officers Pradeep Tamang and David Reed approached Andrews’ room with the intention of making an arrest. Remarkably, Andrews himself opened the door and invited them inside, a gesture that would soon turn deadly. Police Chief J.D. McClure described a seemingly normal conversation that abruptly descended into violence.

Without warning, Andrews allegedly produced a handgun and opened fire on the two officers in a completely unprovoked attack. The officers, caught off guard, immediately returned fire, striking Andrews during the chaotic exchange. The scene quickly transformed into a desperate struggle for survival.

Officer Tamang, just 25 years old and a recent addition to the force, having joined in 2024, succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. His loss is a devastating blow to the department and the community he served. Officer Reed, a veteran of the force since 2015, remains hospitalized in serious but stable condition.

Andrews was also transported to a hospital for treatment and is expected to recover. Once released, he will be transferred to county jail to face a barrage of charges, including malice murder, felony murder, aggravated assault on a public safety officer, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is leading the investigation, meticulously piecing together the events that led to this tragic outcome. Every detail is being scrutinized as the probe continues, with the findings ultimately destined for review by the Gwinnett County District Attorney’s Office.

The shooting has prompted an outpouring of grief and gratitude for law enforcement. Governor Brian Kemp expressed his sorrow over the loss of Officer Tamang and offered prayers for Officer Reed’s recovery, acknowledging the inherent dangers faced by those who protect and serve.

This incident serves as a stark reminder of the unpredictable and perilous nature of police work, where even a seemingly routine encounter can escalate into a life-or-death situation in a matter of seconds. The community now mourns a fallen officer and hopes for the full recovery of another.
