The Trump Administration signaled its intent to reduce the number of ICE and CBP personnel stationed in Minnesota, a move prompted by the recent unrest and the administration’s demands for greater local cooperation. President Trump had publicly called on Governor Walz and other Democratic leaders to ensure local police assist federal authorities in detaining individuals wanted for crimes, emphasizing the need to prioritize the safety of law-abiding citizens.
A significant development emerged as Minnesota agreed to share information regarding the release dates of incarcerated individuals with ICE, allowing for potential custody transfers.
