The baffling disappearance of Nancy Guthrie, 84-year-old mother of television personality Savannah Guthrie, has taken another disturbing turn. A new ransom demand, delivered directly to a media outlet, has escalated the mystery surrounding her kidnapping from her Tucson home.
This latest communication isn’t for Nancy’s safe return, but for a single piece of information: the identity of the person responsible for her abduction. The price? A chilling request for one Bitcoin – currently valued at approximately $67,000 – sent to a specific digital wallet.
The message, stark and urgent, emphasized the critical nature of time. Authorities were provided with a confirmed, active Bitcoin address, leaving investigators to grapple with the authenticity of the demand and the potential danger facing Nancy. This new demand differs from the address provided in earlier communications.
The FBI has now released the first visual evidence in the case – unsettling images and video footage recovered from Nancy Guthrie’s home security system. The footage depicts a masked individual approaching the million-dollar property late on January 31st or early February 1st.
The suspect, clad in a jacket, gloves, and ski mask, attempted to obscure the Nest doorbell camera with nearby shrubbery. Disturbingly, the individual was also seen with a holstered gun visibly positioned at the front of their pants, adding a layer of menace to the already frightening scene.
Adding to the urgency, Nancy Guthrie relies on daily, life-sustaining medication and has a pacemaker. This critical health information fuels growing fears for her well-being as each hour passes without a resolution. The investigation remains intensely focused on locating Nancy and bringing those responsible to justice.
A delivery driver was briefly detained as a person of interest, but was subsequently cleared of any involvement. The FBI continues to analyze the recovered footage and pursue all available leads in this rapidly evolving case.
