A significant shift in leadership is underway at PT&T CORP. Angel S. Mercado, previously acting president, chief revenue officer, and senior vice-president, will be stepping down on February 15th, a decision driven by personal circumstances.
The board of directors has swiftly appointed Jeffrey E. Julian as acting president to ensure a seamless transition. Julian, currently the vice-president and chief technical officer, will assume the role while the search for a permanent president and chief executive officer is finalized.
Julian will maintain his existing responsibilities alongside his new duties, leading both the technical operations and the overall direction of the company. His appointment is effective immediately and will continue until the annual stockholders’ meeting on June 26th, or until a permanent successor is named.
Since joining PT&T in June 2019, Julian has been a driving force behind the company’s technological advancements. He’s known for a commitment to innovation and successful project execution, consistently delivering results.
Notably, Julian spearheaded a crucial modernization project, dramatically enhancing PT&T’s network capabilities. This ambitious undertaking involved upgrading the network backbone with an impressive 156 kilometers of new cable, effectively creating over 8,000 fiber kilometers of capacity.
PT&T, established in 1962, has a long history of serving a diverse customer base, including corporations, small and medium-sized businesses, and individual residential clients. The company has deep roots in the Philippine market.
This leadership change occurs as PT&T prepares for a significant milestone: a return to trading on the Philippine Stock Exchange. The company voluntarily suspended trading in December 2004 to address financial and reporting complexities, and is now poised for a renewed public presence.
