TRUMP'S SHOCKING POWER GRAB: Faith & Freedom Under ATTACK!

TRUMP'S SHOCKING POWER GRAB: Faith & Freedom Under ATTACK!

A nationwide call to prayer will resonate across the United States on May 17, 2026, as President Trump has announced a rededication ceremony on the National Mall. The event is envisioned as a moment for Americans to unite “to pray, to give thanks,” and to reaffirm the nation’s identity as “one nation under God.” It represents a powerful assertion of faith’s role in the country’s future.

The President describes a burgeoning spiritual renewal sweeping the nation, a revival exceeding even his own expectations. He believes this renewed spirit is directly linked to national momentum and success, emphasizing that faith is not merely a personal matter, but foundational to both individual responsibility and national strength. “You just can’t have a great country unless you have religion,” he stated.

This initiative builds upon a previous call to prayer issued in July 2025, urging Americans to dedicate at least one hour each week to prayer for the nation. The President framed this as a return to the principles that sustained the country throughout its history, suggesting that a stronger embrace of faith would lead to continued improvement and prosperity.

Under the current administration, faith-based practices have become increasingly visible within the federal government. From Christian prayers opening agency meetings to soldiers receiving spiritual guidance, and even Christian imagery appearing on official accounts, faith is being integrated into the daily operations of government. Prayer services are now hosted within some agencies themselves.

This shift has sparked debate, with supporters arguing it corrects a perceived anti-religious bias, while critics raise concerns about the separation of church and state. However, a closer examination of the Constitution reveals the phrase “separation of church and state” doesn’t actually appear within its text.

The concept originated in a 1802 letter from Thomas Jefferson, intended to reassure Baptists that the government would not interfere with their religious practices. The administration argues this principle was meant to protect the church *from* the state, not to eliminate faith from public life. They contend that prayer, faith-based breakfasts, and national prayer events are entirely constitutional.

To address concerns about past restrictions on religious expression, President Trump established the Religious Liberty Commission (RLC) in May 2025. Led by Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick and Dr. Ben Carson, the commission is tasked with “vigorously enforcing” religious protections and identifying “anti-Christian bias” within the federal government.

The RLC is working towards a comprehensive report, due on July 4, 2026 – the nation’s 250th anniversary – outlining permanent measures to strengthen religious freedom. Already, its recommendations have led to significant policy changes, including updated federal guidance protecting students’ and teachers’ rights to religious expression in public schools.

The commission is also investigating instances of “debanking,” where financial institutions close accounts of faith-based organizations due to their beliefs. Alongside the Attorney General, they’ve launched a task force to investigate potential targeting of religious groups by federal agencies like the FBI and IRS. Their work directly informed the planning of the May 17th National Mall event, with a 22-page document presented to the White House affirming the historical Christian roots of the United States.

The impact of the RLC is already being felt across various agencies. The Department of Education has warned schools about potential funding loss for blocking prayer, the Defense Department is prioritizing chaplains, and the IRS has indicated a shift in its enforcement of rules regarding political endorsements by religious organizations. These actions are seen by supporters as protecting fundamental rights.

This move towards accommodating religious expression aligns with recent Supreme Court rulings that have expanded access to public funding for faith-based institutions and supported public displays of religion. Some within the administration believe this legal climate presents an opportunity for broader reforms, challenging laws perceived as hostile to faith.

The changes are not without opposition, drawing strong criticism from those who believe in a strict separation of church and state. However, the administration maintains that these actions are not about imposing a single faith, but about restoring a vital element of American identity and upholding the principles upon which the nation was founded.
