The Office of the President has announced that it will provide financial assistance to the families of victims affected by the school shooting at San Jose National High School in Tacloban City.
According to Palace officials, the families of the three students who lost their lives in the incident will each receive P150,000, while the 18 students who were injured will be given P50,000.
The aid is separate from assistance earlier extended by other government agencies, including the Department of Social Welfare and Development and the Department of Education.
President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. has expressed deep condolences to the families affected by the tragedy, and the government has assured them that justice will be served.
To prevent such incidents in the future, the Department of Education has taken steps to strengthen school safety measures, including the installation of metal detectors and closed-circuit television cameras.
