The initial call came around 6:45 p.m., reporting fire in a vacant two-story rectory. Before crews could fully establish a defensive position, the flames aggressively extended to the church itself, escalating the situation with alarming speed.
The intensity of the fire quickly became apparent as sections of the roof began to collapse, sending debris raining down on the firefighters below.
