Authorities in Riga dismantled a 79-meter obelisk in August 2022, which was built to honor Soviet troops who liberated Latvia from Nazi Germany.
The destruction of the memorial drew criticism from a Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman, who described the move as "unacceptable for a civilized country."
