A significant milestone has been reached in Philippine tourism, recognizing a commitment to inclusivity and cultural sensitivity. All 22 properties under Robinsons Hotels and Resorts have received official certification as a Muslim-friendly hotel group from the Department of Tourism.
The prestigious certification, personally awarded by Tourism Secretary Ma. Esperanza Christina Frasco, encompasses a diverse portfolio of hotels – from the luxurious Westin Manila and Crowne Plaza Manila Galleria to the widely accessible Summit Hotels and Resorts, Go Hotels Plus, Go Hotels, and Grand Summit Hotel. This broad recognition signals a nationwide effort to cater to a growing segment of travelers.
Beyond simply acknowledging the needs of Muslim guests, the hotels have proactively integrated features designed to enhance their experience. Dedicated prayer rooms, lauded by the Department of Tourism as the finest in the Philippines, provide a serene space for worship.
Crucially, this commitment extends to the staff, who have undergone specialized training. This ensures they are equipped to respectfully and effectively serve guests, understanding and honoring Muslim traditions and preferences in every interaction.
According to Barun Jolly, senior vice-president and business unit general manager, this certification isn’t merely about accommodation; it’s a demonstration of profound respect. He emphasized the vital and growing role of the Muslim community within the Philippines’ tourism sector.
The recognition builds upon recent accolades for the hotel group, including being named “Philippines’ Leading Hotel Group” at the World Travel Awards Asia and receiving the title of “Best Hospitality Developer” at the Property Guru Asia Property Awards. These achievements underscore a dedication to excellence and innovation within the industry.
