His previous crimes are serious: a five-year, eleven-month, and twenty-nine-day sentence for trafficking controlled substances, possessing a weapon against a court order, and illegally owning a restricted firearm. Authorities believe he poses a risk, and are urging anyone with information to come forward.
Meanwhile, in Durham Region, a sophisticated fraud scheme has unraveled, leaving a trail of financial damage exceeding $100,000. Investigators uncovered a network of numbered corporations, forged documents, and fabricated employment records used to deceive banks.
Florin Suta, 55, and Corina Baicu, 53, have been arrested and face multiple charges including fraud, uttering forged documents, and possession of property obtained through crime – and a significant quantity of unmarked cigarettes. They allegedly used these fraudulent tactics to acquire vehicles and rack up substantial credit debt.
A third suspect, Mihai Dumitru, 53, remains at large, wanted on similar charges. The investigation continues, seeking to fully account for the extent of the financial damage and bring all those responsible to justice.
In Milton, a disturbing case has emerged involving a therapist accused of assaulting vulnerable children. Muaz Sarfraz, 25, is facing multiple charges, including assault with a weapon and causing bodily harm, stemming from incidents at Spectacokids, a facility providing therapy for children with autism.
Police launched an investigation after receiving a complaint regarding Sarfraz’s conduct during applied behaviour analysis (ABA) therapy sessions. The alleged assaults occurred while the children, both diagnosed with autism, were alone with the accused. Investigators have released Sarfraz’s photo, fearing there may be additional, unreported victims.
