Despite the intimidating situation, and the vehicle being repeatedly kicked, law enforcement remained largely inactive.
The individual credited with initiating this trend is a known agitator, recently arrested in connection with protests surrounding suspected gang members. His actions sparked a rapid spread of the frog suits, quickly becoming a visible presence at demonstrations across the nation.
The brilliance of the tactic lies in its absurdity. Anyone suggesting these costumed figures pose a genuine threat risks appearing unreasonable. It’s a deliberate attempt to undermine legitimate concerns and dismiss opposition as frivolous.
The counter-program wasn’t limited to frogs. A man dressed as a giraffe performed slam poetry, openly admitting to multiple detentions for disrupting ICE operations. Again, the costume served to downplay the seriousness of his actions and deflect accusations of criminal behavior.
It’s plausible some Democratic officials were unaware of the group’s affiliations, though representatives from Oregon – the movement’s birthplace – likely knew better. This ignorance stands in stark contrast to past denials of Antifa’s very existence by prominent Democrats.
Just years ago, Antifa was dismissed as a “myth” or merely an “ideology.” Now, publications on the left acknowledge its reality and effectiveness. This shift highlights a troubling acceptance, even celebration, of a group known for aggressive tactics.
Beneath the playful exterior, a darker reality exists. When darkness falls, the costumes are shed, revealing individuals prepared to employ violence and intimidation against federal agents. This is the group celebrated at Tuesday’s counter-program.
