HUNTLEY BRUTALLY ATTACKED: 'I'VE DONE IT!' SCREAMED THE AVENGER!

HUNTLEY BRUTALLY ATTACKED: 'I'VE DONE IT!' SCREAMED THE AVENGER!

A tense silence has fallen over HMP Frankland, a maximum-security prison, following a brutal assault that has left one inmate critically injured. Authorities are investigating the attack, which occurred in a workshop, and have identified a prisoner in his mid-40s as a suspect.

The injured prisoner, a 52-year-old man, is currently hospitalized with severe head injuries. Forensic teams meticulously combed the scene throughout the day, gathering crucial evidence to piece together the events that unfolded. While the suspect is currently detained within the prison, no arrests have been made.

The incident has stirred chilling memories of a name that continues to haunt the British public: Ian Huntley. Huntley, infamous for the horrific murders of Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman in 2002, is also an inmate at HMP Frankland, serving a life sentence with a minimum term of 40 years.

Ian Huntley, 28, who is being questioned by detectives Friday August 16, 2002, about the disappearance of Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman. Mr Huntley, the caretaker at Soham Village College, and his partner Maxine Carr, 25, a teaching assistant in Holly and Jessica's class at St Andrews Primary School in Soham until the end of last term, had agreed with police to give witness statements and are at police stations elsewhere in the county. The details emerging from Frankland echo a disturbing pattern of violence directed towards Huntley. He has been targeted multiple times during his incarceration, requiring constant vigilance from prison staff. In 2010, a fellow inmate, Damien Fowkes, slashed Huntley’s neck with a makeshift weapon, inflicting a deep wound that required 21 stitches. Fowkes reportedly expressed a chilling hope that Huntley would die.

The attack on Huntley isn’t an isolated event within the prison system. Just recently, Killamarsh killer Damien Bendall received an additional life sentence for attempting to murder another inmate with a claw hammer, also within the Frankland workshop. A witness believed Bendall had fatally wounded his victim.

Further compounding the unrest, Hashem Abedi, a plotter in the Manchester Arena bombing, stands accused of attacking prison officers at Frankland with hot cooking oil and improvised weapons. He denies charges of attempted murder following an incident that left four officers injured.

Their bodies were found near a track in Wangford, Suffolk, on 17 August 2002. Ian Huntley, the caretaker at their school, was found guilty of their murder.

The death of former Lostprophets frontman Ian Watkins last October, following an alleged attack at HMP Wakefield, adds another layer of grim reality to the dangers faced by inmates – and those who prey on the vulnerable – within the prison walls. These events paint a stark picture of a volatile environment where retribution and violence remain ever-present threats.

The latest assault at Frankland underscores the challenges faced by prison authorities in maintaining order and ensuring the safety of all those within its walls, particularly those whose crimes have ignited intense public outrage.
