A wave of Iranian missile and drone attacks targeted U.S. military installations across the Middle East, prompting immediate claims of success from the Iranian regime. These claims, however, were swiftly and directly refuted by U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM).
CENTCOM issued a stark statement, unequivocally dismissing assertions that 50 U.S. service members had been killed. The message was blunt: “LIE.” No American casualties were reported as a result of the barrage, despite initial reports and circulating claims.
Further dispelling misinformation, CENTCOM addressed rumors of a direct hit on a U.S. Navy vessel. The statement confirmed that no ship had been struck, and the Armada remained fully operational, ready to respond. This countered earlier video footage purporting to show damage to the 5th Fleet headquarters in Bahrain.
Initial reports indicated that Iranian missiles had indeed struck the headquarters of U.S. Naval Forces Central Command, home to the Navy’s 5th Fleet. However, CENTCOM clarified that any damage sustained to U.S. installations was minimal and had not disrupted ongoing military operations.
The attacks followed a joint U.S. and Israeli operation, dubbed “Epic Fury,” targeting sites within Iran. Iran’s response involved launching hundreds of missiles and drones, all of which CENTCOM stated were “successfully defended against.”
Despite the scale of the Iranian retaliation, the U.S. military maintained its operational capacity throughout the attacks. The swift and decisive response from CENTCOM aimed to counter the spread of false narratives and reassure both allies and the public.
The situation remained fluid as assessments continued, but the initial outcome was clear: Iranian claims of significant damage and casualties were demonstrably false, and U.S. forces had effectively mitigated the impact of the attacks.
