$1 MILLION MANHUNT: Monster on the Run – Is He Hiding in Mexico?!

$1 MILLION MANHUNT: Monster on the Run – Is He Hiding in Mexico?!

The hunt for a fugitive accused of a brazen daylight murder has reached a fever pitch. The FBI dramatically increased the reward for information leading to the capture of Omar Alexander Cardenas, known on the streets as “Dollar,” to a staggering $1 million.

On August 15, 2019, a typical afternoon at a Sylmar, California shopping center shattered with gunfire. Jabari Dumas, 46, was fatally shot in the head while simply standing outside a barber shop, the victim of a calculated and ruthless attack.

Authorities believe Cardenas, a former member of the Pierce Street Gang and potentially linked to the Pacoima Van Nuys Boys/Anybody Killas, unleashed a barrage of bullets from a semi-automatic handgun. The shooting wasn’t random; it was a targeted act of violence.

Investigators quickly zeroed in on Cardenas, uncovering a vehicle at his home believed to be the one used in the escape. Evidence directly connecting him to the murder was also recovered, solidifying the case against him.

Cardenas is described as being between 5’6” and 5’7” with a heavy build, weighing between 240 and 300 pounds. He is easily identifiable by his thick prescription glasses and at least one visible tattoo.

Despite local and federal arrest warrants issued in 2020 and 2021 respectively, Cardenas remains at large. He is now considered one of the FBI’s Ten Most Wanted Fugitives, a designation reserved for the most dangerous and elusive criminals.

The massive reward increase signals the intensity of the pursuit. While officials haven’t publicly stated the reasoning behind the $1 million offer, the message is clear: Cardenas is a priority.

FBI officials believe Cardenas may have fled to Mexico, but warn him there is no sanctuary. “Mexico is not safe for you, Mr. Cardenas, if that's where you're hiding,” stated Akil Davis, Assistant Director in Charge of the FBI’s Los Angeles Field Office.

Davis emphasized the strong working relationship with Mexican law enforcement, assuring the public that a dedicated task force is relentlessly pursuing Cardenas. He is considered armed and dangerous, and anyone with information is urged to come forward.

The FBI’s tip line, 800-225-5324, and online submission portal remain open for anonymous tips. The pursuit continues, fueled by a commitment to justice for Jabari Dumas and a determination to bring a dangerous fugitive to account.
