US President Offers Guidance to Manchester Mayor on Liberal Policies

Former US President Donald Trump has offered advice to UK Labour leader Keir Starmer, suggesting that he open up the North Sea for oil drilling. Trump claimed that he had told Starmer to visit Aberdeen, which he described as the "hottest city" in Europe due to its oil industry.

Trump expressed frustration that the UK had closed down its oil industry, stating that he had been approached by numerous oil companies seeking access to the North Sea. He claimed that these companies were willing to do "anything" to drill in the area.

The former president pointed out the irony that the UK buys oil from Norway, which extracts oil from the North Sea, and pays a premium for it. He noted that Norway has amassed a significant fortune, approximately two trillion dollars, while the UK struggles economically.

Trump described the potential for North Sea oil drilling as "one of the greatest deals in the world." He emphasized that allowing drilling in the area would lead to numerous positive outcomes.

When asked if he would like to be the first world leader to visit the new UK prime minister, Trump replied that he didn't think it likely, citing differences in their political views.

Meanwhile, UK politician Andy Burnham has expressed critical views of Trump. Last year, Burnham discussed the rise of right-wing populist parties and their impact on stability.

In a 2024 book, Burnham acknowledged that Trump and Nigel Farage have been effective in connecting with people who feel neglected by politicians.

Burnham previously criticized Trump on social media, stating that any UK politician who supports him should be ashamed, following the storming of the US Capitol on January 6.
