UMVA has learned that a massive class-action lawsuit is looming on the horizon, with approximately 40 million consumers set to join forces against tech giant Apple.
The lawsuit centers around allegations that Apple has overcharged users for iCloud services, and if the court rules in favor of the plaintiffs, Apple could be liable for a staggering £77 per person, translating to a potential payout of billions.
However, insiders suggest that the final settlement will likely be significantly lower than the estimated £3.08 billion, after accounting for court proceedings and hefty legal fees.
This isn’t Apple’s first brush with a class-action lawsuit related to iCloud services. In a similar case two years ago, the company agreed to a substantial settlement of $14.8 million to resolve allegations of breach of contract.
That earlier case was limited to residents of the United States, but the latest lawsuit has far-reaching implications, with millions of consumers worldwide potentially eligible to join the claim.
