The 20-year-old son of Donald and Melania Trump made a rare public appearance alongside his father at the World Cup final in New Jersey. The event saw Spain lift the coveted trophy with a 1-0 victory over Argentina.
Barron Trump, who is rarely seen at public events, was spotted in a box at the Metlife Stadium in East Rutherford, alongside world leaders and FIFA President Gianni Infantino. The president praised his son for keeping him up to speed on the football and which players he should keep an eye on.
President Trump highlighted his son's knowledge of the game, stating that he gets information from Barron about the players. He also expressed his admiration for soccer greats such as Messi and Ronaldo, and even shared a story about watching Pele play when he was with the Cosmos.

Barron's interest in soccer is not limited to watching the game. He has played in the past, having been on the academy roster for Major League Soccer's DC United when he was just 11 years old. The president has also shared that his son plays a lot of soccer, but has opted for it over American football due to safety concerns.
The Trump family was also in attendance at the game, with Eric Trump sharing a photo on Instagram featuring himself, siblings Ivanka and Donald Trump Jr, as well as sister Tiffany and his wife Lara Trump. However, Barron was nowhere to be seen in the photo.
Barron has been making headlines recently for his rare public appearances. In June, he was seen at the Freedom 250 UFC fight on the White House Lawn, sending social media into a frenzy with a new hairstyle and facial stubble.

Despite his preference for privacy, Barron is currently studying at New York University's Stern School of Business campus in Washington DC. His mother, Melania, has spoken about the interest in Barron stemming from the fact that he's not seen in public too often.
Lara Trump, the president's daughter-in-law, discussed Barron's preference for privacy on her podcast The Right View With Lara Trump earlier this year. She suggested that the public interest in Barron is one reason why he keeps a low profile, adding that he likes to play it cool and doesn't want to draw attention to himself.
