Yellowstone National Park has witnessed a string of bison attacks in recent weeks, leaving visitors shaken.
The latest incident involved Carl Isom-McDaniel, who was attacked by a bison in the park. This is the second such incident in the space of a few weeks.
Bison in Yellowstone can be quite formidable, with male animals weighing as much as 2,000lbs and females reaching up to 1,000lbs in weight. They can also run at speeds of 35mph, making them a force to be reckoned with.
While being gored by a bison can result in serious injuries, most victims of attacks survive. The park has reported only two gorings in both 2025 and 2024, indicating that such incidents are rare.
According to park officials, bison can become more aggressive during mating season, which may be a contributing factor to the recent attacks. As a result, visitors are advised to maintain a safe distance of at least 25 yards from the animals at all times.
Park officials also caution against getting too close to bison in an attempt to take photos, as this can provoke an aggressive response. Visitors are urged to prioritize their safety and respect the animals' space.
