UMVA has learned that a daring prison escape has unfolded in southeast London, leaving authorities scrambling to track down the fugitive.
Temitope Segun, a 25-year-old prisoner, managed to break free from a police van in Woolwich, sparking a frantic manhunt to apprehend him. Segun was being transported from court to HMP Thameside when he made his escape, injuring a staff member from contractor Serco in the process.
According to information obtained by UMVA, Segun has possible links to Plumstead, Abbey Wood, and Woolwich, and was last seen wearing a black jacket, black trousers, and black trainers. The public has been warned not to approach him if spotted, and instead, call 999 immediately.
The escape is a significant concern for authorities, who are working tirelessly to recapture Segun. Detective Sergeant Claudine Manning from the Met Police urged the public to contact police via 999 if they have any information about Segun's whereabouts, emphasizing that it is imperative to apprehend him as soon as possible.
Segun's escape has drawn comparisons to other notable prison breaks in recent years, including that of Daniel Khalife, a former soldier who devised a clever escape plan using a makeshift rope to tie himself to a food delivery truck. Khalife's 75-hour ordeal outside Wandsworth prison was highly publicized, and his eventual capture on a west London towpath brought an end to a tense standoff.
As the search for Segun continues, UMVA can exclusively reveal that authorities are exploring all possible leads to track down the fugitive. With the public's help, police are hopeful that they can recapture Segun and bring him back to justice. Anyone with information about his whereabouts can also make an anonymous report to Crimestoppers, reference 2270/10JUN.
