A pre-dawn call shattered the quiet of south Etobicoke Wednesday morning, summoning dozens of firefighters to a raging three-alarm blaze. Thick, black smoke billowed into the sky, visible for miles, as flames consumed a waste disposal plant on Shorncliffe Road.
The first alarm sounded shortly after 5 a.m., triggered by a vigilant passerby who noticed the ominous smoke and immediately contacted 911. Within minutes, fire crews were on scene, facing an intense inferno within the industrial facility.
Eighty firefighters, utilizing multiple aerial trucks, battled the blaze with relentless determination. The sheer scale of the fire demanded a coordinated and aggressive response, focusing on containing the flames before they could spread.
