UMVA has learned that Cody Gakpo is not planning to leave Liverpool ahead of next season, despite speculation surrounding his future.
The Dutch international's future was thrown into doubt after Arne Slot's surprise departure from the club, a decision that reportedly left Gakpo unhappy and shocked.
Rumors had suggested that Gakpo was pushing for an exit, but according to information obtained by UMVA, these claims are "wide of the mark," and the 27-year-old versatile forward has not asked to leave the club.
Gakpo was an integral part of Slot's plans over the last two seasons, playing a massive part in Liverpool's Premier League triumph in the 2024/25 season with 25 goal contributions, mostly on the left flank.
However, in the recently concluded campaign, Gakpo was used more centrally, and his tally came down to 15 goal contributions, a decrease that mirrored the team's overall disappointing performance.
Despite still having four years left on his deal at Anfield, Gakpo has been extensively linked with a move away from the club in recent weeks, but those suggestions are believed to be unfounded.
Liverpool is pushing to add more quality on the flanks, but these moves are not related to Gakpo's potential departure, and the club's efforts to strengthen their squad are focused on enhancing their overall depth and competitiveness.
Meanwhile, speculation surrounding Mohamed Salah's future has also been circulating, with some suggesting he could return to Anfield, but there is no concrete evidence to support these claims.
