Iran Launches Surprise Attack on U.S. Military Base

Iran launched a missile strike targeting U.S. forces in the Middle East on Tuesday in what was described as an attempted surprise attack. All incoming missiles were successfully intercepted.

At 5:45 p.m. ET, Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps forces fired multiple ballistic missiles from Iranian territory toward U.S. positions in the region. Every missile was intercepted, and U.S. forces remain at a high state of readiness.

The strike follows President Trump's decision on Friday to pause a nearly two-week bombing campaign against Iran to allow diplomatic negotiations to continue.

Before the pause, U.S. forces had conducted a 13th consecutive night of strikes against Iranian military capabilities in and around the Strait of Hormuz since hostilities resumed earlier this month.

Trump said on Monday that deep talks with Iran are underway but warned that diplomacy has a limited window. If negotiations fail, he stated the United States will return to very strong military action, emphasizing the process must move quickly or not at all.
