Hero Puppy Captured: Brave Canine Saves 5-Year-Old from Knife-Wielding Attacker

The chaotic scene unfolded on a busy street just before 6pm yesterday when a knifeman was seen attacking unsuspecting pedestrians. The incident occurred in a short walk from the city's famous beach, leaving a trail of fear and blood.

A man, accompanied by his five-year-old son and six-month-old puppy Mars, narrowly escaped the attacker's grasp after a series of harrowing moments. The man, who wishes to remain anonymous, recounted the terrifying incident: "I was holding my son in my right arm and my dog in my left hand when the situation escalated quickly. A man was holding the taxi window open and running with the car, which was unusual. The taxi accelerated down the street, and I had to let go of my dog to find safety."

With his son by his side, the man described how he grabbed him and ran to a nearby restaurant, Uncle Sam's burger restaurant. He credited the few seconds that Mars, the heroic puppy, momentarily distracted the attacker with saving his son's life: "When I got back, Mars was shaking, and was surrounded by 12 people with blood all over his fur. The suspect was on the ground. People were worried about the dog and thought he should go to the vet."

One man suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries after his face and ear were slashed on Sillwood Street. He was taken to hospital and later discharged after treatment. A 28-year-old taxi passenger also reported being hit through the taxi window, although he was assessed at hospital and released after several hours.
