Cole Palmer has spoken briefly about his reaction to missing the World Cup, after a frustrating season with Chelsea that saw him miss the tournament.
Palmer, who has two goals in 14 caps for England, told a publication that this season "hasn't been the best, but it is what it is." He added that he's not dwelling on the decision, saying "I'm not crying over a decision you can't change, and I hope the lads make it all the way."
The former Manchester City forward is spending part of his summer on holiday in Ibiza and will probably be watching England's games, but only if nothing better comes up.
"If I'm not doing anything, then I'll watch the matches, yeah," Palmer said. "I'm going to relax this summer, rest for the first time in three or four years, before getting back to what I love."
Wayne Rooney was one of many to mention Palmer's name after England's stalemate with Ghana on Tuesday, saying that "these games are more difficult than games against better teams that are better going forward." He added that "there's more space" in these types of games, and that "clever players in tight areas" like Palmer would be useful.
Jamie Carragher also weighed in, writing that "Rice and Bellingham are all about power and energy; they aren't magicians in the spaces between the lines." He said that if England continues to struggle in these types of games, the debate will start regarding Palmer's absence, and that some people thought he would be a useful option given his ability to play in tight areas.
