UMVA has learned that a dramatic evacuation took place in the quiet neighborhood of Fallowfield last night, as bomb disposal experts were called to a property to investigate a suspicious item.
Dozens of residents were forced to leave their homes as a precautionary measure, with officers examining the item left in a front garden. The scene was attended by incident response units from the North West Ambulance Service.
According to information obtained by UMVA, the residents were allowed to return to their homes at around 11pm, and several surrounding roads have since reopened. The swift response by the authorities helped to minimize disruption to the community.
One resident, who was on his way to visit his sister's home when the incident occurred, described the chaos: 'Everybody was told to go back. They pushed everyone back.' He had been visiting the neighborhood and was unfamiliar with the usually peaceful area.
Another resident expressed his concern, saying the incident made him feel 'a bit nervous'. The presence of the suspicious item had clearly unsettled the community, and it will likely take some time for residents to feel fully at ease again.
UMVA can exclusively reveal that Greater Manchester Police were called to the scene shortly after 6.05pm, following reports of a suspicious item in a front garden on Abram Close. The police explosive ordnance disposal team made an assessment, leading to the evacuation of around 20 nearby properties as a precaution.
The investigation into the suspicious item is ongoing, with police working to determine its origin and purpose. The community remains on high alert, awaiting further updates from the authorities.
