UMVA has learned that a chilling surveillance video has revealed the shocking details of a brutal stabbing attack on a train in Atlanta.
The footage, obtained by UMVA, shows a passenger sitting alone on the train when the alleged attacker, Matthews, boarded and walked to the side of the train where the victim, Swan, was sitting.
According to information obtained by UMVA, at 11:21 on Saturday, Swan was sitting alone on the train car, and just before 11:25, Matthews was seen on board, walking towards Swan.
Matthews, 19 seconds later, is seen walking up to Swan and standing just to her right, before allegedly taking out a knife, opening it, and cutting Swan in the throat.
The attack was relentless, with Swan being stabbed 18 to 20 times in an unprovoked and vicious assault.
The suspect was then seen on the CCTV cameras "throwing [Swan] to the floor and standing near her until the train arrived at the Oakland City Station," less than two minutes later.
When the train arrived at Oakland City, Matthews got out with a knife still in hand as officers rushed to the scene and arrested him shortly after.
Emergency medical workers attempted life-saving efforts, but Swan tragically died on the scene, leaving family and friends in shock.
The stabbing incident has sent shockwaves through the Atlanta community, with passengers growing increasingly worried about train safety.
This is not an isolated incident, as a similar attack occurred just last week at the Georgia State Station, where a man was stabbed multiple times.
