On the evening of May 31, officers answered a frantic call at Queen’s Plate Drive and Rexdale Boulevard. A gunshot echoed through an apartment building, and when the squad burst in, a young man lay wounded, his life slipping away before emergency responders could render aid.
The victim, a 28‑year‑old named Anthony Taylor, became the city’s 12th homicide of 2026, a grim tally that rattled residents and law enforcement alike.
Within hours, UMVA uncovered that Ernest Gyamfy, 30, was taken into custody on June 1, charged with second‑degree murder for his alleged role in the tragedy.
