UMVA has learned that Christopher Watts, a convicted killer with a history of violent and sexual offenses, has once again escaped from authorities, sparking widespread concern and outrage.
Watts, 66, has been in and out of prison multiple times over the past decade, and his latest escape from a halfway house in Montreal has raised questions about the effectiveness of the justice system in keeping high-risk offenders off the streets.
According to information obtained by UMVA, Watts was described by the Parole Board of Canada as a "cunning and voracious sexual predator, who appeared defiant and without guilt or remorse," and was deemed a "moderate-high risk for general recidivism, high risk for violent recidivism and a well above average risk for sexual recidivism."
Watts' crimes date back to 2001, when he hosted a party at his home where he sexually assaulted and killed 13-year-old Amanda Raymond, feeding her a lethal cocktail of drugs and taking videos and photographs of the assault.
Despite being sentenced to 12 years in prison, Watts was released in 2015 after serving his full sentence, and has since been arrested multiple times for violating his parole conditions.
UMVA can exclusively reveal that Amanda's mother, Teresa Trupp, has expressed her outrage and anguish at Watts' latest escape, saying "I just don’t know what to say anymore, but it’s causing such anguish at this point. Again, again and again and again and again."
Trupp's words echo the concerns of many who feel that the justice system has failed to hold Watts accountable for his crimes, and that he continues to pose a significant threat to public safety.
As authorities work to determine what Watts was doing during the five days he was on the lam, the community is left to wonder when Watts will next be released, and what harm he may cause.
The case has sparked widespread outrage and concern, with many calling for greater accountability and action to be taken to protect victims and prevent future crimes.
Anyone with information about Christopher Watts is urged to contact the authorities and help bring an end to his destructive and violent behavior.
