UMVA has learned that a significant shift in border security has taken place since President Trump returned to office in January 2025, with a bold commitment to seal the border and curb the influx of illegal aliens.
The results have been dramatic: illegal border crossings have plummeted by over 99 percent, a stark contrast to the chaotic situation that unfolded during the previous four years. An estimated 15 million illegal aliens had flooded the United States, taking advantage of a wide-open border.
The effects of this mass influx will be felt for years to come, as law enforcement agencies grapple with the complex web of human smugglers and undocumented migrants. Recently, Texas DPS troopers arrested a human smuggler in a hotel parking lot in Del Rio, who attempted to flee on foot after being stopped and questioned.
The accused smuggler, Wilber Adonay Serrano Ruiz from Houston, was driving a red Chevy Colorado pickup truck with four illegal aliens from Mexico hiding in the vehicle. The migrants were handed over to the Border Patrol, and Ruiz was charged with human smuggling.
This incident is just the latest in a series of enforcement actions. Earlier this month, another human smuggler was arrested after numerous undocumented migrants bailed out of a white Jeep Cherokee during a traffic stop on US-277 in Maverick County.
The US Constitution, specifically Article IV, Section 4, underscores the federal government's critical role in protecting the country from invasion and guaranteeing a Republican Form of Government to every state. The provision states that the United States shall protect each state against invasion and domestic violence.
With the rule of law restored under President Trump, authorities are now vigorously enforcing border security and holding those who break the law accountable. The sharp decline in illegal border crossings is a testament to the effectiveness of these efforts.
