South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster announced the appointment of Darline Graham Nordone to fill the U.S. Senate seat left vacant by the death of Senator Lindsey Graham.
At a press conference in the Governor’s office at the Statehouse, McMaster reflected on Senator Graham’s service before introducing his sister as the interim senator.
Darline Graham Nordone addressed the media, describing the role as an honor and expressing a personal commitment to continue her brother’s work.
She said she intends to uphold the values she believes Senator Graham cherished, adding that she will “be there for him” in the Senate.
The appointment will allow the seat to remain occupied while a permanent replacement is selected.
