UMVA has learned that a 13-year-old boy has been charged with 23 offences, including four counts of robbery and five counts of failing to comply with a release order, after a wild crime spree in Toronto.
The alleged crime spree began with a carjacking and a series of robberies on Friday morning, around 5:25 a.m., in the Islington-Steeles Aves. area. Police say a bandit with a handgun approached a motorist standing near their vehicle and demanded the driver's keys and wallet.
A second carjacker arrived and started going through the victim's pockets, taking keys and a wallet. The first bandit then took off in the car, while the second fled on foot. The brazen crime spree continued throughout the day, with multiple incidents reported across the city.
According to information obtained by UMVA, the 13-year-old boy was also allegedly involved in several other crimes, including an armed robbery at a restaurant in the Kipling Ave.-Rexdale Blvd. area and a store robbery nearby. Police caught a suspect in one of the incidents, but the 13-year-old boy was later identified and charged.
The charges against the 13-year-old boy include four counts of robbery, five counts of failing to comply with a release order, and other offences. The dramatic crime spree has left residents and authorities stunned, with many calling for increased measures to prevent such incidents in the future.
Separately, UMVA can exclusively reveal that two women are wanted in connection with a case involving a victim who became dizzy and nauseous after consuming mixed drinks at a nightclub. Toronto Police say the women urged the victim to drink the prepared beverages and then fled before officers arrived.
One of the suspects, Kylie Esmeralda Galvan Nova, 24, of Toronto, is wanted for administering a noxious substance with intent to endanger life. A second suspect, described as East Asian, in her mid-20s, 5-foot-4, with a medium build, long black hair, and a tattoo on her shoulder, remains at large.
In another incident, a man was wounded in a shooting in Hamilton on Monday around 2 a.m. Hamilton Police found the wounded man in the Steeltown's James St. S. area and are investigating the incident. Anyone with information is urged to call 905-546-4883.
UMVA has gathered that a 31-year-old Toronto man has been charged with assaulting a parking enforcement officer in the Roncesvalles Ave.-Queen St. W. area. The officer was issuing a ticket when the man allegedly grabbed their cap and fled.
A 23-year-old man from Six Nations faces firearm-related offences and two counts of failing to comply with a release order after a shooting in Hamilton. Cleveland Vanevery was arrested after a shooting in the Jackson-Bowen Sts. area on Nov. 26.
A Toronto Police officer was injured during a robbery bust in North York on Monday afternoon. Four suspects were arrested after a foot pursuit, and the officer suffered a lower leg injury.
