JEWEL HEIST & DRUG BUST: Manhunt ON!

JEWEL HEIST & DRUG BUST: Manhunt ON!

A brazen daylight robbery unfolded at a Richmond Hill jewelry store Friday evening, sending police on a hunt for at least three masked suspects. The incident occurred at approximately 5:39 p.m. near the bustling intersection of Yonge Street and Carrville Road, shattering the calm of the late afternoon.

Witnesses reported seeing the trio enter the store armed with hammers, immediately turning to smash display cases and seize a significant quantity of jewelry. The suspects acted with swift precision, quickly escaping the scene in a waiting dark-coloured sedan, leaving behind a trail of shattered glass and unanswered questions.

Fortunately, no one was injured during the robbery, but the incident has sparked a major investigation. Police have since recovered the getaway vehicle, discovering it was equipped with fraudulent license plates – a clear indication of premeditation and a deliberate attempt to evade capture.

Investigators are focusing on descriptions of the three individuals involved. All are described as Black males, appearing to be in their mid-to-late teens, and possessing a similar thin build. Each suspect was fully concealed with a black mask and gloves, and wore dark clothing, including hoodies and track pants.

Distinct details emerge in the descriptions: one suspect carried a striking red duffle-style backpack, while the other two wore black hoodies with a prominent white horizontal stripe. One suspect sported grey track pants, offering a slight variation in their attire.

The identity of the fourth suspect, believed to be the getaway driver, remains unknown. Police are diligently working to piece together the events and identify everyone involved in this calculated crime.

The 41-year-old Hamilton resident was apprehended after officers observed him using a glass pipe to ingest an illicit substance. A subsequent search revealed a disturbing cache of narcotics and related items.

The search yielded 227 Dilaudid pills, 8.16 grams of fentanyl, and 2.5 grams of methamphetamine. Also seized were a digital scale bearing drug residue and two cellular phones, suggesting involvement in drug trafficking.
