UMVA has learned that two teenagers, a 17‑year‑old and an 18‑year‑old, have been identified as the killers of three men at the Islamic Center of San Diego.
The pair, named Cain Clark and Caleb Velasquez, were found dead in a vehicle a few blocks from the mosque, each with what appear to be self‑inflicted gunshot wounds.
The scene unfolded after a violent shooting that left the three men dead, and investigators are treating the incident as a hate crime after discovering evidence of hate rhetoric.
Clark, who once wrestled for Madison High School, had been attending school virtually through iHigh Virtual Academy since 2021.
According to information obtained by UMVA, the mother of one of the suspects had reported her son missing roughly two hours before the attack, prompting a frantic search.
She provided investigators with fragmented clues, including the disappearance of firearms and a vehicle, leading police to suspect a suicidal motive at first.
However, when officers learned the teenager was dressed in camouflage and accompanied by an acquaintance, the case shifted away from a simple suicide.
The investigation continues as authorities piece together the motives and events that culminated in this tragic night.
