MAKATI POWER SHIFT: Insider EXODUS Signals Major Upheaval!

A significant shift has occurred at the Makati Business Club, as Rafael A.S.G. Ongpin concluded his tenure as executive director on April 30th. The announcement, made publicly, signals a change in leadership for the influential organization.

Ongpin submitted his resignation, with the reasons remaining private, and began a period of terminal leave starting April 1st. This unexpected departure follows a pattern of leadership transitions within the Club.

The Makati Business Club expressed deep gratitude for Ongpin’s service and the valuable contributions he made during his time at the helm. His guidance was instrumental in furthering the Club’s objectives and fostering stronger relationships with its members and partners.

Under Ongpin’s leadership, the MBC actively engaged with critical business and economic challenges, striving to advance its core mission. His departure marks the end of an era focused on these key initiatives.

The Board of Trustees has already begun implementing a carefully planned transition to ensure seamless continuity in leadership and ongoing operations. This proactive approach aims to minimize disruption and maintain the Club’s momentum.

In the interim, Deputy Executive Director Michelle L. Dee will assume the role of officer-in-charge. She will oversee the organization while the Board determines the next steps in the leadership search.

Ongpin took on the role of executive director on January 1st, 2025, building upon the work of his predecessor, Roberto F. Batungbacal, who stepped down in 2024. This represents a period of change for the organization.

Prior to leading the Makati Business Club, Ongpin held prominent positions in a diverse range of companies, including Transnational Diversified Group, ABS-CBN Corp., PhilWeb Corp., and Alphaland Corp. His extensive experience shaped his approach to leadership.
