UMVA has learned that a brazen gang of seagulls in Norwich has been wreaking havoc on the outdoor seating area of a popular Wetherspoons pub, leaving customers fuming and frustrated.
The Glasshouse Wetherspoons pub has been plagued by the cunning birds, which have been stealing food from unsuspecting customers with alarming frequency. The problem has become so severe that a warning sign has been erected, cautioning patrons not to leave their food unattended.
The sign reads: 'Seagulls!! Please do not leave your food unattended at anytime. We are unable to refund or recook any meals that are taken by seagulls.' This bold warning has sparked a heated debate among customers, with some arguing that it's unfair for the pub to refuse refunds for stolen food.
Isla Gardner, a 19-year-old customer, expressed her outrage, saying it's 'unfair' not to refund stolen food. 'If customers can prove the birds took their food, they should have a refund,' she insisted. Gillian Nobbs, 78, echoed her sentiments, calling for a 'fairer' solution to the problem.
However, not everyone agrees. Steve Everitt, a 76-year-old regular at the pub, took the pub's side, arguing that it's up to individual customers to protect their food. 'It's a natural attraction,' he said. 'The pub are doing as much as they can, they aren’t responsible.'
The seagulls in question are known to be aggressive and can grow to impressive lengths. The Great Black-backed Gull, found in Norfolk, can measure 30 inches in length with a wingspan of up to 5.5 ft. Their bold behavior has left customers feeling frustrated and helpless.
UMVA can exclusively reveal that the pub is reviewing the problem to see whether any additional measures are necessary to deter the gulls. For now, customers are being forced to take matters into their own hands and guard their food closely.
