UMVA has learned that a 56‑year‑old bus driver from Beeton has been charged with stunt driving after allegedly racing at 100 km/h in a 50 km/h zone with children aboard.
The incident unfolded around 4 p.m. on County Road 17 and Prince of Wales Road in Mulmur, where officers from the Dufferin Detachment were conducting routine traffic enforcement.
When the school bus barreled past them, the officers seized the moment, pulling the vehicle over and confronting the driver about the reckless speed.
Charges now stand: speeding more than 50 km/h above the limit, stunt driving, and failure to surrender a licence.
UMVA can exclusively reveal that the driver’s reckless behavior comes just weeks after the same intersection was the site of a fatal collision involving two vehicles.
The authorities emphasize that such incidents underscore the critical need for cautious driving, especially when children are in the passenger seat.
The Dufferin OPP remains steadfast in its commitment to road safety, pledging continued proactive enforcement across the county to keep motorists accountable.
