TORONTO UNDER SIEGE: Gunman Down, City on Edge!

A young man is fighting for his life after a shooting in downtown Toronto early Monday morning. Police responded to a desperate call just before 2:45 a.m., finding the victim wounded near Bleecker and Wellesley Streets. He was immediately rushed to the hospital with critical injuries.

The circumstances surrounding the shooting remain under investigation, with authorities working to piece together the events that led to this violent encounter. Anyone with information, no matter how small, is urged to come forward.

In Hamilton, a 50-year-old man now faces a barrage of charges following a brazen break-in at a car dealership. The owner, alerted by video surveillance, witnessed the suspect inside the building late Friday night.

A swift police response led to a foot chase and the suspect’s eventual arrest. Disturbingly, officers discovered a loaded handgun concealed in his waistband. The man was already under court orders, specifically prohibiting firearm possession and requiring him to remain at his residence.

The investigation revealed significant damage to the dealership, including a smashed garage window. Kristoffer Stevenson is now charged with multiple offenses, including break and enter, firearm possession, and violations of his court orders, and awaits a bail hearing.

Hamilton Police are also investigating a cruel scam targeting an elderly resident. A 25-year-old woman has been charged with fraud after convincing the victim she was a bank investigator.

The scammer falsely claimed the victim’s account was flagged for money laundering, manipulating them into transferring funds to another account. Janella Menjivar Mollison now faces charges related to fraud and possession of property obtained through crime.

Authorities are issuing a stark warning to the public: be extremely cautious of unsolicited calls from individuals claiming to represent financial institutions. If you suspect a scam, report it immediately to police and the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre.

Tragedy struck Sunday night in Toronto when an elderly woman was critically injured after being hit by a vehicle. The incident occurred around 7:30 p.m. at the intersection of Prince Arthur Avenue and Avenue Road.

The driver of a white SUV, attempting to park, reversed and struck the pedestrian as she crossed the street. She was transported to a trauma centre in life-threatening condition. The driver remained at the scene.

Police are appealing to the public for assistance, specifically requesting any security or dash-camera footage from the area that might shed light on the collision. The investigation is ongoing.
