Department of Information and Communications Technology Issues Invitation for P473-M Fiber Optic Infrastructure Project

The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) has allocated P473.14 million for a contract to provide internet connectivity services in public places via fiber optic networks.

The contract will be funded out of the DICT's 2026 budget and covers 560 locations in North Luzon for P187.51 million, 599 locations in South Luzon for P200.57 million, and 254 locations in the Visayas and Mindanao for P85.05 million.

Interested bidders were invited to submit proposals until July 29, with a requirement that they have completed a project of a similar type in the last five years to qualify.

The DICT also recently opened the bidding for a P179.49-million contract to provide low-earth orbit (LEO) satellite services for geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas (GIDAS).

The contract aims to provide LEO internet access to 396 locations on Luzon and 191 sites in the Visayas and Mindanao.
