The President of the Philippines will proceed with his scheduled visit to Canada, aiming to bolster bilateral relations and secure new agreements in critical economic sectors, Malacañang announced on Wednesday.
The Palace Press Officer stated that the President sees no reason to postpone the trip, despite rumors of destabilization efforts and an ongoing protest rally in Manila. The official asserted that such rumors will not hinder the President's plans to strengthen ties with Canada.
The state visit is expected to yield significant advancements in formal cooperation frameworks across various areas, including energy, natural resources, trade and investment, labor and immigration, tourism, and culture and the arts.
The relationship between the Philippines and Canada is described as "vibrant and strong," according to Malacañang. The visit aims to further solidify this connection and explore new opportunities for cooperation.
During the trip, the President is scheduled to participate in various business meetings and private sector engagements, meeting with Canadian economic players involved in mining, information technology and business process management, telecommunications, nuclear energy, and financial services.
