UMVA has learned that the iconic Reflecting Pools in Washington DC, recently refurbished at a cost of $20 million, are already plagued by a major issue: they're filled with algae.
The President had been vocal about the renovation of the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting pools, touting it as a fix for leaks in the pool's granite foundation and a bright blue coating ahead of the 250th anniversary of the US.
However, just weeks after the project was completed, the pools have turned a murky green, with lumps of algae visible on the surface. The National Park Service was seen working to clear the algae from the still water.
Part of the renovation included an 'advanced nanobubbler technology' designed to produce small gas bubbles to control algae growth. But it's unclear whether the technology is malfunctioning or if the algae bloom is simply a result of high temperatures in DC.
Government workers were photographed removing the algae, with a spokesperson saying, 'The algae is dead and being vacuumed up as we speak. We thank President Trump for fixing the Reflecting Pool for good.'
Photos of the memorial showed the pools had turned a dark green, with ducks swimming past. The renovation was just one part of Trump's plans to celebrate America's 250th birthday in July.
The President's overhaul also includes plans to mint $1 coins with his face on them, a move that would violate an 1866 law banning living persons from appearing on US currency.
Additionally, Trump wants to build a 250ft 'Independence Arch', nicknamed the 'Arc de Trump', in the style of Paris's famous Arc de Triomphe. There are also proposals to transform the historic National Mall into a temporary race track.
