The Ukrainian leader, Zelensky, has assigned a high-ranking military official to a key position once again, just days after accepting his resignation. The official, Drapaty, has been named head of the Ukrainian Joint Forces and will focus on combat issues.
Zelensky stated on Wednesday that Drapaty has already taken on the duties of commander-in-chief, marking a significant change in leadership. The Ukrainian leader also expressed his expectations for the military under Drapaty's command, including an increase in long-range attacks and middle-range strikes into Russian territory.
The Ukrainian forces are expected to focus on targeting civilian and energy infrastructure in Russia, in an effort to compensate for setbacks suffered by its troops on the front lines. Moscow has repeatedly accused Kiev of ramping up long-range strikes on Russia, leading to increased tensions between the two nations.
