AC MILAN STEAL LIVERPOOL'S HEART?!

AC MILAN STEAL LIVERPOOL'S HEART?!

A seismic shift could be coming to the Italian football landscape. AC Milan is reportedly setting its sights on a surprising acquisition: Andy Robertson, the long-serving Liverpool vice-captain, as a free agent.

Robertson’s current contract at Anfield is ticking down, nearing its expiration in June 2026. This presents a golden opportunity for Milan, who are actively seeking to bolster their defensive ranks with a proven leader and a wealth of top-tier experience.

The need is acute. Milan underwent a significant defensive overhaul recently, most notably with the departure of Theo Hernandez last summer. While Pervis Estupiñán was brought in as his replacement, the Ecuadorian international has struggled to consistently deliver the impact expected of him.

Whispers of Estupiñán’s potential exit are already circulating, creating a void on the left flank that Milan believes Robertson could expertly fill. The Scottish international represents a compelling solution, offering immediate quality and a commanding presence.

For Liverpool, the potential departure of Robertson signifies the end of a truly remarkable chapter. Since arriving from Hull City in 2017, he has become an icon, a cornerstone of Jurgen Klopp’s triumphant era.

Robertson’s contributions were instrumental in securing a glittering array of trophies, including the coveted Champions League and the Premier League title. He wasn’t just a player; he was a symbol of Liverpool’s resurgence.

However, the club is already looking to the future. The arrival of Milos Kerkez last summer signaled a shift in the left-back position, with the young Hungarian quickly establishing himself as the first-choice option.

This season, Robertson has found his playing time limited, starting only six Premier League matches as the manager has favored Kerkez. While a return to his boyhood club, Celtic, has been frequently discussed, interest from Atletico Madrid also lingers.

Despite concrete offers from clubs like Tottenham in both the summer and January transfer windows, Robertson remained loyal to Liverpool, choosing to see out the current season at Anfield.

Losing a player of Robertson’s caliber for free would be a considerable setback for Liverpool, particularly as they also prepare for the anticipated departure of Mohamed Salah this summer. It marks a turning of the page, a transition into a new era.
