A chilling image has emerged from West Warwick, Rhode Island – a hooded figure, cloaked in what appears to be the garb of the Ku Klux Klan, walking brazenly through the streets in the dead of night.
Surveillance video captured around 2 a.m. Monday in the Arctic section of town depicts the individual, draped in flowing white robes and a pointed hood, moving past local businesses. The scene is unsettling, a stark reminder of a dark chapter in American history.
Ryan Fitzgerald, a local resident, witnessed the figure while driving with his brother. He instinctively began recording, later describing the unnerving experience of seeing only glowing red eyes peering from beneath the hood. The sight, he recounted, was profoundly disturbing.
The unsettling presence wasn’t lost on local business owners. Leslie Letourneau, upon reviewing her own surveillance footage, expressed her outrage and disgust. The incident felt like a deliberate affront, a hateful gesture directed at her and the community.
Letourneau publicly condemned the act, stating it was in no way funny and daring the individual to repeat the display during daylight hours. Her message resonated with many, a firm declaration that hate would not be tolerated.
Local police have confirmed they are actively investigating the incident, appealing to the public for any information or additional surveillance footage. While authorities currently believe this to be an isolated event, the investigation remains ongoing.
Despite assurances of no immediate threat to public safety, the incident has left a palpable sense of unease in West Warwick, prompting a community to confront a disturbing and unwelcome specter from the past.
