Hospital DEFIES Trump: Gender Transitions for Kids BACK ON!

Hospital DEFIES Trump: Gender Transitions for Kids BACK ON!

A major children’s hospital in Minnesota is defying a previous federal directive and will once again offer procedures aimed at altering the biological sex of minors. This decision arrives after a period of suspension, triggered by an executive order intended to halt such practices.

Last year, a presidential executive order, titled “Protecting Children from Chemical and Surgical Mutilation,” sought to restrict federal funding to any institution providing these services to young people. The order explicitly stated a policy against supporting the “transition” of a child’s sex, deeming the procedures potentially destructive and life-altering.

Legislative efforts mirrored this stance, with a bill passing the House of Representatives that would have criminalized these procedures for minors and held parents accountable for allowing them. However, the bill stalled in the Senate, never reaching a vote.

Now, following a ruling by a federal judge, states are challenging the previous restrictions. The judge determined that the executive branch lacked the authority to unilaterally ban these treatments without Congressional approval.

Children’s Minnesota announced the full resumption of services within its Gender Health program, which had been temporarily paused in February. The hospital cited the court ruling as the basis for its decision, effectively overturning the previous attempt to limit access to these treatments.

Hospital representatives emphasized their commitment to providing what they consider science-based healthcare to transgender and gender diverse youth, framing it as an essential part of their mission to support families and promote children’s health.

The initial pause in February had affected the prescription of puberty-suppressing medications and hormones to patients under 18. Hospital officials stated at the time that the decision was made to protect both healthcare providers and the institution itself, despite not being their preferred course of action.

This development occurs alongside another legal challenge, where the federal government is currently suing Minnesota, alleging sex-based discrimination related to policies concerning transgender athletes and access to facilities.
