A kinky side hustle turned deadly for a California housewife who moonlighted as an OnlyFans star and pricey escort.
Michaela Rylaarsdam, 32, has pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter after client Michael Dale,55, died from asphyxiation after a twisted sexual romp on April 17, 2023.
Rylaarsdam’s antics in her double life are expected to net her four years in prison when she is sentenced in June. She had been working in the sex industry for 10 years.
Sex game went off the rails
Based in Riverside County, prosecutors said Rylaarsdam made a horndog housecall to Dale’s home in Escondido in San Diego County.
The tragedy unfolded during a sex game that saw Rylaarsdam duct taping Dale’s mouth and putting a plastic bag and Saran Wrap over his head while video captured the action. But because his limbs were bound, Dale could not remove the items.
Court heard that for around eight agonizing minutes, he was inside the plastic prison. That was long enough for Dale to be declared brain dead the following day.
Rylaarsdam claimed she immediately called 911. Her lawyer, Dan Cohen, earlier said that his client had no intention of killing Dale during the encounter, for which he reportedly paid US$11,000. And because the sexxx-rated action was consensual, that was “certainly a mitigating factor,” Cohen said.
No cover-up attempt
“I think there was no intent to kill and no attempt to cover this up,” Cohen said. “And she acted appropriately when she realized this was a problem. There is definitely a consensual element — not only something he consented to, something he was actively seeking.”
According to reports, Rylaarsdam’s husband, Brandon, knew of her clandestine OnlyFans career and even helped her manage her platform. The couple have three sons that masked her kinky website, Secret Hostess, to the outside world.
On the site, Rylaarsdam posted saucy snapshots of her herself using the nom du porn “Ashley SinCal.” She joked on the site that the “h is silent.”
Describing herself as an “upscale and classy creation,” she claimed to be a “chameleon of this industry,” offering “intoxicating and provocative performance(s)” and “naughty games.”
Her website offered a pot pouri of perversions. There was the $1,500 “Ultimate Incall,” the $200 “Toy Show,” the “Wild Incall” for $1,100,” and the bargain basement “Mild Incall” would set you back $800. For thrifty clients, outcall services were offered at a $300 savings over the in-call options.
FaceTime or Zoom “play sessions?” Discount depravity at $150 but a $25 nonrefundable deposit was tacked on to the price.
She accepted deposits via Zelle, Cash App, Venmo, PayPal, or by invoice, the Daily Mail reported.
Rylaarsdam boasted of “incorporat(ing) acrobatics into my lap dances.”
She added: “NO OTHER listed on this site is as professional as I am.”
